The National Drama of Napoles and Pork Barrel is still the hottest topic in the land. The Million People March; the Senate Blue Ribbon Hearing; The increasing exposes on pork barrel corruption; The increasing number of whistle blowers; And the surrender of Napoles to the President are but the latest of news that have come out.
The surrender of Napoles to the President seemed to have opened up a number of questions and theories in Philippine Society. It would be easy to fall into the belief that this was stage-managed or moro-moro but to do so without evidence would be like falling to the assumption of Dr Hood in G.K. Chesterton’s The Absence of Mr. Glass. There are other possibilities. What is important though is that Napoles is now in the custody of the Government. And the next important thing is what is to be done now?
The surrender does open an important why in the surrender - why did Napoles surrender? With all her resources it was possible for her to be invisible. So why?
In Martin Scorsese’s film Casino - Mob Bosses were skimming off the money from the Tangiers Casino and when they were found out, the Mob Bosses were brought to court. Soon after nearly eveyone, who could be a witness was killed.
So was Napoles acared into surrendering? Who was she afraid of? The people who would catch her for the 10 Million Bounty? The Government? Or Some other parties?
Who would have the means to make Napoles afraid for her life? Here is my theory.
If Napoles was indeed involved in the pork barrel scam, she and her group is just one of the legs in this tripod of crime. She would need two partners completing this tripod of crime. If ever she would need partners both in the legislature and in the government. Partners who would have the means and motives to make her disappear
permanently.
